Hikvision Laboratory

New teaching laboratory HIKVISION® Lab ("HIKVISION® Intelligent Video Surveillance Laboratory") has opened on the Digital Alley of Esil University. Built on accessible artificial intelligence technology, it gives students the opportunity to master intelligent video surveillance and remote machine learning on real equipment.

*Purpose

What the lab teaches

Deep learning in camerasDeep learning algorithms are built into the cameras and video recorders: real-time video analysis automatically detects people and moving vehicles in the frame.
Notifications to the monitoring center and to your phoneThe collected data is immediately sent to the data processing center and to the mobile devices of registered users.
Minimal false alarmsThe technology reduces the likelihood of false alarms caused by moving background noise in the frame and reliably responds only to target objects.
Digital signal processingThe laboratory studies digital signal and data processing algorithms that underpin intelligent video surveillance.
Entering the AI marketStudents master the mass market of digital equipment and rapidly expand the country's AI user base.
University securityEnables Esil University's services to focus security efforts on assets that pose a real threat to the information security of departments and units.
*Hikvision® technologies

AI capabilities and modes

Hikvision® technology includes mechanisms for recognizing classified objects and AI self-learning. In the lab, you can choose one of 4 functions — individually or in combination, depending on the requirements of the protected area.

01Object recognition
Classified Object DetectionObject classification: the algorithms are trained to assign detected objects to three categories — people, vehicles and everything else.
Motion Detection 2.0Automatically responds to people and moving vehicles; enabled by default and requires no setup. Combines motion detection with deep learning, filters out background interference and produces fewer false alarms; on/off options with recording playback.
Person Files and Vehicle FilesMotion Detection 2.0 recordings are sorted into "people" and "vehicles" folders — the right recording is easy to find by time or location.
02AI self-learning
Learn-by-ExampleExample-based self-learning mode: users flag false alarms in specific scenarios, and the algorithms learn to minimize such errors in the future.
Learn-by-SelfThe engine built into the recorder automatically optimizes the algorithm, improving accuracy over a set number of cycles with almost no user involvement; it will soon be available in Hikvision® video recorders.
Self-Learning AnalyticsLike the human brain, the more AI devices study an object, the more accurately they analyze it — the algorithms continuously improve accuracy in any deployment environment.
03Image quality
ColorVu 3.0True full-color imaging 24 hours a day, even in low light — outstanding brightness, clarity and color accuracy down to 0.0001 lux.
HikAI-ISPNext-generation AI-based image signal processing: unlike preset algorithms, it continuously learns from extensive data and analyzes every frame with human-like perception — only faster and more accurately.
3D LUT technologyRenders and adjusts color tones with high accuracy, delivering rich, true-to-life hues in the dark — nighttime footage retains daytime brightness and realism.
