Esil University Students Explore Corporate Governance Through Practical Learning

At Esil University's Department of Management, practical classes focus on solving real-world management challenges that students may encounter in their future professional careers. As part of the Corporate Governance course, S. Abdigapar, Acting Associate Professor at the Department of Management, conducted a practical management workshop for fourth-year students of the Management educational programme.

During the session, students were presented with a case study involving a conflict between majority and minority shareholders. As part of a business simulation entitled “Board of Directors,” participants assumed different professional roles, conducted negotiations and reached a collective decision.

The practical session concluded with presentations and defences of team mini-projects. Each team developed its own version of a Corporate Governance Code, justifying its provisions in terms of transparency, accountability and the protection of stakeholders' interests. Special attention was also given to the use of artificial intelligence. Students compared their own solutions with AI-generated proposals, checked their compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and identified potential inaccuracies.

This learning format enables students to apply theoretical knowledge in situations that reflect real professional practice while developing negotiation, teamwork and informed management decision-making skills.
