B.A. Zhumatayeva, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Audit, and L.Zh. Aitkhozhina, Candidate of Economic Sciences and Docent, conducted a session for second-year Statistics students and third-year Accounting and Audit students. The meeting addressed academic integrity in Fundamentals of Statistics and Management Accounting 1.
Students examined cases involving data manipulation, unjustified exclusion of observations, deliberate understatement of production costs, and use of another group’s work. These examples illustrated how academic misconduct can undermine research conclusions and management decisions.
The lecturers emphasised proper source attribution, verification of calculations, documentation of individual contributions, and disclosure of how artificial intelligence was used. The session highlighted the connection between academic integrity and the professional ethics of future statisticians and accountants.
